UNESCO’s Regional Bureau for Education in Latin America and the Caribbean de Chile and the 11 field offices serving the region assist governments in the implementation of public policies and encourage civil society to participate in defining education.

UNESCO’s Institute for Higher Education (IESALC) in Caracas, Venezuela focuses on the development of higher education programmes. The International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP) in Buenos, Aires, Argentina helps to plan and manage national education systems.
