Knowledge Management Services (KMS) is responsible for the information and knowledge resources of UNESCO’s Education Sector, which includes the Education Portal, the Knowledge Centre and publication services.

The portal which is available in English, French and Spanish is a gateway to information and knowledge on worldwide educational development through thematic websites in key areas.

Other resources and services include regularly updated news, publications, monthly newsletter EduInfo, statistics and interactive tools such as discussion forums.

The Knowledge Centre

The Knowledge Centre is housed within Knowledge Management Services and offers a comprehensive selection of UNESCO and non-UNESCO publications and multimedia related to education. Available are documents published in the last 5 years by UNESCO Headquarters, field offices, Institutes and Centres specialized in education as well as selected titles from other international organizations.

There is also a unique collection of documents from research institutions and government departments such as national plans, surveys and educational systems analyses. The centre is a spacious and modern library space which provides personalized assistance to help evaluate your needs and navigate through the collection. It also offers computers with WiFi Internet access and TV, video and DVD viewing facilities. For all enquiries about the centre's collections please phone or email.

The Education Sector website

The site offers regularly updated news and features on UNESCO and other education events from around the world in English, French and Spanish. It also presents the variety of its work through a range of thematic sub sites loosely arranged under the headings Learning throughout Life, Improving Education Quality and Promoting Rights and Freedoms.

EduInfo Newsletter 
EduInfo is the Education Sector’s electronic newsletter and brings together news, features and latest publications. More

Seminars and Knowledge Events 
The Education Sector organises the Wednesday Seminars which share knowledge about current education issues and encourage discussion.

Publications Services

The publication unit of KMS offers a full publication service from planning to creation including layout and design and editing in English and French to diffusion and stock management. The unit’s aim is to refine the quality and number of titles produced and invest greater resources in expanding the range of languages in which they are available.  KMS also arranges exhibitions of publications at major education events and conferences.

The management and control of UNESCO’s visual identity is also housed in this section as is the handling of intellectual property rights and authors’ contracts. All publications are produced according to UNESCO Publications Guidelines.

The Education Sector’s flagship publication is the annual EFA Global Monitoring Report. All its publications can be consulted online through UNESDOC.
